The best way to run the goats out of the church!

The best way to run the goats out of the church!

(D. J. Ward)

"Feed My sheep." John 21:17

"Feed the flock of God entrusted to you." 1 Peter 5:2

The best way to purify the church and keep it pure—is to get rid of all the goats! And the best way to run the goats out of the church—is to feed them 'sheep food'. God's sheep will grow in grace under the preaching of grace—but goats will go hungry because they choke on 'sheep food'. They will soon leave and go somewhere else. Preach sovereign grace!

“Now I commit you to God and to the message of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified." Acts 20:32

Elder D. J. Ward, pastor of Lexington's Main Street Baptist Church for the past 19 years, died of complications from lung cancer Friday at Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital. What the Lexington Herald-Leader did not say about this amazing African-American is that he was a powerful spokesman for the glorious God worshiped through the wall-to-wall window called Calvinism. - posted on desiring God blog, 2008.

I have experienced much consternation about what to do when goats or wolves enter the flock. Wolves are usually pretty easy to spot as they try to tear down and destroy what God has built up. The goats however, are more difficult to spot. This simple illustration by D.J. Ward just made my day. We endeavor to always preach the simple yet profound truths of scripture to feed God's sheep. I don't need to worry about the goats, the goats will take care of themselves. Thanks to D.J. Ward for this!
